From Madrid, the quickest way to reach this area is to take the A-1. From this main axis can access the different municipalities that serve as input to the region.
A network of rural roads connecting the various villages in the region. Move through these we can make a first assessment of the landscape of the Atazar Reservoir Community.
 

How to get to...


 

El Atazar:

Access from Madrid by car:
We take A-1 direction to Burgos until the detour to La Cabrera-El Berrueco where we take the exit number 60, there we hook up with the M-127 direction El Berrueco and in this town we hook up with the M-133 that takes us to El Atazar, we have to cross the dam’s wall that way we will arrive to El Atazar
Another option is:Take A-1 direction Burgos until the detour to Torrelaguna (km 50), we take the M-320 to Torrelaguna. Once in Torrelaguna we continue through the M-102 to Patones, from here without detouring we continue on the M-134 until El Atazar’s Dam. We cross the dam and get to the town of El Atazar.
 
Access by bus: From Madrid
From the Plaza de Castilla’s transport exchange station. Bus line 197 (Madrid-Torrelaguna-Uceda)When we arrive at Torrelaguna we change bus to a microbus that goes to El Atazar.

El Berrueco: 

Access through the road from Madrid:
We take the A-I direction to Burgos, until the detour to La Cabrera-El Berrueco in the kilometre 60; there we connect with the M-127 until El Berrueco.

Cervera de Buitrago:

Access from Madrid:
We take the A-1 direction to Burgos, until exit 60 ( La Cabrera), where we take the M-127 to El Berueco, we cross this council and through the same road we get to Cervera de Buitrago.
 
Access by bus: From Madrid
From the transport exchange station at Plaza de Castilla.
Bus line 191 (Madrid-Buitrago de Lozoya) From Buitrago de Lozoya we connect with line 191E (Buitrago de Lozoya – Cervera de Buitrago)

Patones:

Access from Madrid:
We take A-1 direction to Burgos. In the kilometre 50 we detour to Torrelaguna. Once in the council we take the M-102 to Patones de Abajo. To go to Patones de Arriba we go up from town using the M-192

From the Plaza de Castilla’s transport exchange station. Bus line 197 (Madrid-Torrelaguna-Uceda) When we arrive at Torrelaguna we change to line 197 (Torrlaguna-Patones-Uceda)

The Alto Jarama Community counts with a interurban transport service between the councils of El Atazar, Patones de Arriba, Patones de Abajo, Torremocha del Jarama and Torrelaguna.
Workdays there is a microbus that departs practically every hour.
Saturdays, Sundays and festive days: There are four microbuses that go from Torrelaguna to Patones and two the other way around.

Puentes Viejas:

Access through the road from Madrid:
To Cinco Villas: Through the A-1 direction to Burgos until exit 67, then follow through the M-135 that will take us directly to Cinco Villas.
To Mangiron: From Cinco Villas take the M-135 until the exit to the M-126 that will take us to Mangiron.
To Paredes de Buitrago: Through the M-135 until the exit to the M-127 that goes to Paredes.
To Serrada de la Fuente: From Paredes take the M-137 to Serrada.
 
Access by bus:
From Madrid, f
rom the Plaza de Castilla’s transport exchange station. Line 196 (Madrid la Acebeda)
To Serrada de la Fuente and Paredes de Buitrago: line 199 (Madrid-Horcajuelo-Montejo)
From Buitrago de Lozoya:
To Paredes de Buitrago and Serrada de la Fuente: line 191D (Buitrago-Robledillo de la Jara)
To Mangiron and Cinco Villas, line 191E (Buitrago-Cervera)

Robledillo de la Jara

Access through the road from Madrid:
Taking the A-1 from Madrid direction to Burgos, until La Cabrera (exit 60), we take the detour to El Berrueco through the M-27. Crossing the town and continuing on this road direction to Cervera until we find the detour to Robledillo de la Jara.
 
Access by bus:
From the Plaza de Castilla’s transport exchange station, line 199 (Madrid-Horcajuelo-Montejo)
From Buitrago de Lozoya: Line 191 D (Buitrago-Robledillo)
